Super rare and aggressive , my Precious is a 🦄

Trying to keep it together. As I know our lil furries pick up on our moods. 3 pages of a very detailed report came in from the Pathologist. Below is copied from the summary comments☹️

3/7/19
While the tumor is predominantly chondroblastic there are some regions producing osteoid-like trabeculae in the center of the medullary cavity which is consistent with a chondroblastic osteosarcoma. Mitotic index is the best predictor of behavior. In this case the mitotic index is high, and therefore I suspect aggressive behavior in this tumor. Nevertheless these tumors are less aggressive than dogs. The overall metastatic rate is about 10%. 1 year survival can reach up to 50%.

  1. Sorry about the bad report 🙁
Are you near UF? They have one of the best Vet colleges in the country, just wondering if they can help any.

    1. UF is only about 3 hours from us. We’ve been there years ago for one of our dogs who was ill. But he loved a car ride…Lyla not so much, pretty much wouldn’t wish her in a car on anyone🤦🏼‍♀️ My surgeon did recommend 2 oncologist to speak with. I’m also lucky enough to have one or two good vet friends who are also going to do some research. And Jet is soo cute♥️

  2. I was just cat up on some of Lyla’s blogs when I spotted this.

    Deep breath…..b r e a t h e…….

Lyla is doing great and has no int pf foing anywhere anytime soo ! She doesn’t care what a path report says and she sure doesn’t have a timeframe stamped anywhere in that fluffy kitty butt!!

I’ve been on this site six years. One thing I m ow woth certainty. Statistics don6 mean squat around here. Seriously, I mean that.

The most important thing is to make every moment the best moment ecer and to stay fully present in each of those momen6!! Lyla isn’t worr avout anything!

Now go and do some more shopping on Amazon and Chewy! We want pictures!

    Extra higs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

    1. Thank you so much♥️ Sally. You are so right. We are going to enjoy these baby milestones in the here and now for her.

I am still so miffed that her pain tolerance has got to be so high, reading that report and realizing how painful it must have been and she was totally not limping but running and climbing as always.

If there are any recommended articles anywhere on here for us please lmk. Hope you’re all doing well too😊

  3. You are wise to keep your emotions as in check as possible right now, Lyla totally needs that.

Try not to panic. I do believe Jill’s mitotic index was high also, and the prognosis proved to be way wrong. We see this time and time again, and remind folks every day that cats and dogs don’t have time stamps on their butts, even with cancer. Nopawdy knows how long they (or any of us) have, so just do your best to put down the report for now and follow her lead.

It’s smart to get information from oncologist though, just to put your mind at ease. I don’t know if you saw these articles but I hope they help (they are also part of our Trikitty book, Cool Tips for Tripawd Cats).
